Brick by boring Brick

Can one ever fully understand, and completely get to know an other human being?

I doubt it. I don't believe anyone can. 

No matter how hard one would try, I find it impossible. 

But then again I don't think we're meant to try either. Some parts needs to remain known only to oneself. The more we give of ourselves to others, the less is left for us to defend ourselves with.

We build defenses in order to not get hurt. When these walls are being teared down, we become more vulnurable. And all too often we suffer a hard blow, when the wall is not up. And so we are left with picking up the pieces, and building that wall up again. 

However, what if the wall had been completely teared down? What to do when you suffer a blow then? What can you use to build up the wall, when there are no bricks? 

That's why I think no one can ever give up all their bricks. It's pure survival. 

I will never give up all my bricks, but I will not hesitate to let anyone tear down my wall once in a while.

Cause to get to know someone on a deeper level, that is what you have to do.

And it's worth the chance. Cause one thing humans do best, is to survive. We get hit all to often, but non the less we manage to pick up the pieces and move on.
